Education and Research Chairs
THE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH CHAIRS OF THE ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
Research in the Department of Economics is carried out within the Econometrics Laboratory, in connection with the Pôle de Recherche en Economie et Gestion (PREG) of the École Polytechnique. The arrival of new members to the department has enabled a rise in research (in quantitative and qualitative terms) and a renewal of major research themes. Beyond the historical strengths of the Econometrics Laboratory (including microeconomic theory, game theory, public economics, and industrial economics), new fields of research are emerging in macroeconomics, economics of insurance and finance, international economics, applied econometrics, etc...
Applied research is structured around four education and research Chairs maintained by the Department of Economics:
- Chair for Sustainable Development, École Polytechnique-EDF, the first Chair of the École Polytechnique (2003)
- Chair for Insurance and Major Risks within the framework of the Risk Foundation in partnership with AXA (2007)
- Chair for Business Economics in partnership with Dupont de Nemours, GDF-Suez, Lafarge, and Unilever (2007)
- Chair for Sustainable Finance and Responsible Investment in partnership with AFG, Allianz GI France, Axa IM, BNP Paribas AM, CAAM, Caisse des dépôts, Dexia AM, Ecofi Investissements, Euronext France SA, Financière de Champlain, Fondation Institut Europlace de Finance, Fonds de Réserve pour les Retraites, Groupama AM, HSBC Investments France, La Banque Postale AM, Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie, Macif Gestion, Natixis AM, Sarrasin Expertise, SGAM (2007)
The companies who are partners to the Department of Economics Chairs are sponsors who help to develop teaching and/or research expertise, according to the chair, linked to precise, defined themes and objectives, which are presented to a committee of experts. They lead to close collaboration between the world of teaching and/or research and that of industry. The heads of chairs are world-renowned specialists who coordinate the activities of their respective chairs and relations between École Polytechnique and partner companies.
