Education

The Economic Sciences program at the École has to meet the many expectations of a population of students with widely ranging career plans. Many students looking for posts of responsibility as engineers in the world of industry need, firstly, a sound introduction to the general principles and methods of analysis underlying the subject and, secondly, more applied tuition focused on the world of companies and the environment in which they operate.

A growing proportion of jobs offered to students when they leave the École, or shortly afterwards (approximately 40% at present), are linked to economic or para-economic activities, notably in national or international financial or banking institutions. The course on offer aims to allow the students concerned to acquire as full as possible an overall mastery of the basic methods used in Economic Sciences and their various applications so that they can make an effective start in these professions without becoming professional economists.

Finally, the course should provide a sound preparation for another category of student looking for a career as a professional economist, who will continue his training at graduate level, for example, in a Practice School such as ENSAE (National School of Statistics and Economic Administration) and/or following a course via research into Economic Sciences (DEA, Master's or Doctorate in France or abroad).
